Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (or lamb for traditional)
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup frozen peas and carrots
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp dried thyme
Salt & pepper to taste
2 tbsp flour
1 cup beef broth
Mashed Potato Topping:
3 cups mashed potatoes (about 4 medium potatoes)
2 tbsp butter
1/4 cup milk
Instructions
Cook Beef: In a large oven-safe skillet, cook beef with onion until browned. Add garlic and cook another minute. Drain any excess fat.
Add Flavor: Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire, thyme, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle flour over beef and mix well.
Simmer: Pour in broth and bring to a simmer. Stir in peas and carrots. Cook 5–7 minutes until thickened.
Top with Potatoes: Spread mashed potatoes evenly over beef mixture. Use a fork to create texture on top.
Broil: Broil 2–4 minutes until the top is golden brown.
Serve Hot: Let cool slightly before serving.
