- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup molasses

- Maple Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 1–2 tbsp milk or cream (as needed for consistency)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and spices.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, molasses, and vanilla until well combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
- Bake 8–10 minutes until edges are set and centers are soft. Let cool on pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
- Whisk glaze ingredients in a bowl. Drizzle or dip cookies once fully cooled.
Notes
- Chill dough for 30 minutes for easier handling and thicker cookies.
- Adjust spice levels to taste for milder or bolder flavor.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature up to 5 days.
- Freeze baked cookies (unglazed or glazed) for up to 3 months.
